Superb 19th Century French Hand Painted Porcelain Figural Topped Inkwell For Sale

This sale is for a superb 19th century French fine porcelain hand painted figural topped inkwell. This romantic piece was purchased from a prominent Washington D.C estate. This wonderful inkwell is \"figural formed\" depicting a scene of a loving family. Father is seated adoring his young child, holding her hand. Mother is standing behind, holding the child sharing this tender moment. Quite breathtaking indeed! This is highly detailed hand painted example. Father is wearing and unusual pink luster glazed robe with gold highlights, Mother is wearing a robust fancy floral decorated \"bustled\" gown with cap, and the infant is wearing period night clothes with head scarf. The faces are superb, showing much definition and emotion. This fine figural covers a two-pot inkwell base. The pots are decorated with Northwind inspired faces. This is an unusually large example. The figural measures just over 8\" tall with a base dimension of 8 3/4\" x 5 1/8\". The base measures 8 7/8\" x 5 1/4\". Inside the cover has marks of \"I\" and 22, which I\'m sure is a mold designation. The base is unsigned. It is in excellent condition with only a minor hairline to one ink pot and a very small glaze flake at where the cover meets the base. Large pieces like this do not normally survive damage because of their size and delicate nature. You can tell this piece was truly cherished.
