Up for sale/sale is an exceptional, unified 5-piece antique Victorian majolica serving set by the highly collectible 19th-century master potter, Joseph Holdcroft (Sutherland Pottery, Longton, Staffordshire, England).Unlike many pieces that left his factory completely unsigned, every single piece in this matching set features the crisp, hand-painted \"JH\" monogram and lobster/crawfish backmark topped with a crown. Having a matching, fully signed set of this scarcity is an incredible find for the serious majolica or specialty tableware connoisseur.

1 Centerpiece Oyster Platter: Features a beautiful, high-relief molded design depicting a stylized bird\'s nest with eggs resting intricately within textured tree branches, surrounded by individual oyster wells.4 Matching Square Plates: Unified companion side plates sharing the exact matching glaze style, coloration, and backmarks.
Condition Report:
This set is in excellent antique condition given its 130+ year history.Glaze: Incredible, bright glaze preservation across the front faces with absolutely no discoloration or dark staining. Beautiful, uniform natural age-crazing is present throughout, confirming its genuine period authenticity.
-The Back of the Oyster Plate: There is a localized area on the reverse fluted rim where the natural age-crazing shows some light brown coloration from historic shelf dust and handling. This is completely normal for 19th-century pottery, is located safely on the underside out of view, and beautifully speaks to its 130+ year history and authenticity. See pic
Flaws:
Three out of five pieces are completely free of chips or cracks.
-Two square plates have a very tiny, almost unnoticeable flea-bite glaze chip along the edge that does not detract from its structural integrity or display quality. (Please see high-definition photos for detailed close-ups).
