The Sparco 008009RNR Grid Q is a fixed-back competition racing seat built on Sparco\'s QRT (Quick Resin Technology) fiberglass shell platform — a patented manufacturing process developed at Sparco\'s OEM Composite Laboratory in Turin, Italy that uses aerospace-derived resin application methods to produce a fiberglass shell that is 30% lighter than traditionally manufactured fiberglass seats without any reduction in structural rigidity or crash performance. The result is a shell that weighs just 14.3 lbs on its own, making the Grid Q one of the lightest FIA-homologated fiberglass competition seats available at its price point. The seat is covered with impact-absorbing foam and a fire-retardant, self-extinguishing black cloth outer cover, and is FIA 8855-1999 homologated for use in FIA-sanctioned competition across rally, circuit racing, hillclimb, and other disciplines that require certified seat use.

The Grid Q\'s defining characteristic is its modular padding system. Rather than using a single bonded foam insert, the seat uses multiple individual padding sections attached to the shell by Velcro, each of which can be removed, repositioned, or eliminated independently. This gives drivers the ability to tailor the feel of the seat to their body shape and driving style without replacing the shell, and the gaps created between pads when some are removed form natural ventilation channels along the seating surface for significantly improved airflow and cooling during extended sessions. Drivers who need additional torso clearance — up to approximately 36 in. waist — can remove the side cushions entirely, and removing all cushions allows the seat to be used with a custom molded resin kit for a fully personalized fit. The deep side bolsters and substantial shoulder bolsters provide strong lateral containment for a wide range of body types across high-demand driving conditions.

The Grid Q shell features five harness slots that support correct multi-point harness routing across a broad range of driver heights, and is HANS (Head and Neck Support) device compatible via its shoulder opening geometry and shoulder bolster design. Side-mount threaded receptacles are built directly into the fiberglass shell at 290mm lateral spacing, providing a direct interface for Sparco side mount brackets or compatible universal racing seat brackets — vehicle-specific mounting solutions must be purchased separately and are not included.
