Genuine first pressings carry the New York 23 address on the labels themselves; those are rare. This NYC-label pressing is the version most collectors own as \"the original.\"
THE MUSIC-----The 1957 Blue Note session pairing Rollins with Thelonious Monk, JayJay Johnson, Horace Silver, Paul Chambers, and Art Blakey. Misteriosoand Reflections with Monk sitting in, plus Why Don\'t I, Wail March,You Stepped Out of a Dream, and Poor Butterfly. Van Gelder mono.
CONDITION-----VINYL: VG, play-graded from a full needle-drop review of all sixtracks on an audiophile setup. Light crackle is present throughout,with scattered clicks and pops on every track - most noticeable inquiet passages (Misterioso, Reflections, Poor Butterfly). A fewrecurring ticks from fine through-groove hairlines. No skips, nodistortion; the music stays upfront and the louder material playsstrong with rich dynamic Van Gelder sound. Visually: scatteredhairlines and light scuffs both sides, none feelable with thefingernail test. One small embedded surface deposit on Side 2 thatdoes not wipe off, disclosed for accuracy. Labels are clean.
JACKET: G+, graded conservatively. Laminated front is still glossywith strong color, but there is notable edge and spine wear withchipping/paper loss along the opening edge and spine, corner wear,and staining plus general wear on the back panel. Small seam splits
at the top seam and at one side seam - bothminor and unrepaired. Priced to condition - this is an honestplayer\'s copy of a top-tier Blue Note title.
