This is a renewed model of the Samurai Vintage Series “S510HX”. The denim is 15.8oz Samurai Cotton GL3 selvedge woven with Samurai Cotton in the weft on the old GL3 power loom. The cloth bags are made of a kinari-colored selvedge fabric and the jeans are finished off with SAMURAI JAPAN iron buttons and thick, two-pronged hidden brass rivets. The leather label is based on early Samurai Jeans designs, and the flasher has also been given a vintage touch.
The silhouette is a regular straight with a bit of room in the rise and waist, tapering gradually towards the hem.
The warp thread is a slubby #6 thread made of 100% Texas cotton, and is dyed a deep indigo color with a strong blue reminiscent of denim from the 1950s. The weft is a #5 yarn made with our own Samurai Cotton mixed in, and these are both woven together slowly and carefully on the legendary GL3 loom known as the crowning achievement of the Toyoda Automatic Loom Company. This was one of the earliest power looms in Japan, and is a very rare machine that can weave fabric while still keeping the slubby structure of the yarns intact.
