A remarkably scarce original-box example of Sammy the Talking Musical Bear, model S-1266—an obscure vintage animatronic plush from the classic electronic talking-toy era.
Sammy was much more than an ordinary musical teddy bear. According to the original packaging, he was designed with four separate interactive features:
• Talk-back function that listens and repeats what you say
• Built-in musical tune
• Motorized moving eyes and mouth
• Light-up heart that blinks while interacting
This is the Christmas holiday version, complete with its original Santa hat, red-and-green striped scarf, chest controls, and illustrated display box.
The surviving packaging is a major part of this example’s collectible appeal. It preserves Sammy’s exact name, S-1266 model number, original feature artwork, operating instructions, battery configuration, and Made in Taiwan identification. Loose Sammy bears are extremely difficult to identify, and very little documentation for this exact model survives online.
Sammy is an outstanding crossover collectible for enthusiasts of vintage animatronic toys, interactive electronic plush, talking teddy bears, voice-repeat toys, musical Christmas toys, Taiwan-made battery-operated toys, Teddy Ruxpin-era nostalgia, obscure 1980s-style toys, and original-box childhood collectibles.
The bear itself appears remarkably clean and well preserved, with attractive plush, bright colors, complete accessories, and an excellent display appearance. The original box has considerable storage wear, including tears, creases, cracking, crushed areas, and damage around the top and display window. Please examine all photographs carefully.
