Size: each approx. 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 in (8.9 x 14 cm)
A charming sequential set showing the same young woman fishing from a small wooden pier on a painted riverside backdrop. She wears a straw boater-style hat with pompoms, a white cropped jacket over a striped top, a wide belt, a white skirt playfully hitched up to show lace-trimmed petticoats, dark knee socks and lace-up shoes. A tree with a carved heart and initials stands on the left.
- Card 1: she stands smiling, holding the fishing rod upright and looking down.
- Card 2: side view, she casts the rod out over the water.
- Card 3: she proudly lifts the fishing line with the hook, smiling.
Each card has the RPH (Rotophot) logo with the series number in the lower left corner. The backs have the classic multilingual Universal Postal Union layout printed in red (\"Postkarte – Carte postale\", including Russian \"Открытое письмо\").
All three postcards were brought from St. Petersburg, Russia.
CONDITION
Original antique postcards, over 100 years old. All three are unposted, with no writing, stamps or postmarks. Please note:
- Card 1 (rod upright): silvering (a metallic sheen typical of old photos) and darkening in the lower left area, a small dark spot on the tree trunk, light corner wear.
- Card 2 (side view, casting): a few scattered white specks, light wear at the bottom left corner with a small spot of exposed paper.
- Card 3 (lifting the line): a small brown spot on the water to the right of the figure, a few tiny white specks, light corner wear.
- All three show light silvering in the darker areas near the edges, visible at an angle.
- The backs are evenly toned, with light age spots and a few faint marks.
- No tears, creases or missing pieces.
