This substantial exhibition catalogue was published in connection with Serra’s acclaimed 2015 Equal exhibition at David Zwirner in New York and represents the first in-depth survey devoted specifically to the artist’s forged-steel sculpture.

The book traces Serra’s use of forged steel beginning in 1977 and includes more than sixty detailed plates of sculptures, photographs documenting the forging process, writings by Richard Serra, and scholarship by noted art historian Richard Shiff. Works discussed include Berlin Block (For Charlie Chaplin) and Equal. The volume was designed by McCall Associates in close collaboration with Serra.
