Striking vintage Regina Gouda art pottery vase, produced by the Van der Want & Barras pottery factory in Gouda, Netherlands. This unusual Mid-Century Modern example features a sharply angular four-sided form with a sculptural peaked rim, deep black exterior glaze and contrasting pale interior. The exterior is decorated with colorful raised abstract motifs in orange, yellow, pale green and lavender, creating a wonderful textured contrast against the nearly black ground. The underside is clearly hand-marked “Regina,” numbered 1268, bears the crowned WB factory mark for Van der Want & Barras, and is marked “MADE IN HOLLAND.” Regina was founded in Gouda in 1898 and became an important producer of Dutch decorative art pottery; its later production included increasingly modern forms and decoration. Measures approximately 4 5/8" tall.
