Rare GERMAN EXAKTA II 35mm SLR FILM CAMERA WITH 50mm f2.8 LENS, Restored, Works For Sale

I enjoy finding and restoring broken historically significant or classic cameras to working condition, and then finding them new homes. This classic and relatively rare Exakta II circa 1949 represents the first step in the evolution of the classic Kine Exakta of the 1930s, to the robust Varex system that dominated professional photography in the 50s. It was pretty functional to begin with, so I just cleaned it up and did a little lubrication, and now it appears to be working fine. Appearance is excellent, with just a minor area of brassing on the front plate (see photos). Shutter is working at all speeds, though accuracy not tested. Has waist level viewfinder that is clear, minimal dust present, and it must be open before the shutter will release. I never use the slow speeds, but the winder does seem to be operating. The body comes with a Meyer Domiplan 50mm f2.8 normal lens, also fully functional. This combination was film tested with great results, but this is after all an eighty plus year old piece of mechanical art, which therefore should be handled gently, and is offered “as is”.
