For sale is an exceptionally rare and highly unusual vintage acrylic paperweight commemorating the historic production of Last Oil from the North West Hutton Field on 1 January 2003.Unlike the vast majority of petroleum-industry memorabilia pieces, which celebrate first oil discoveries or project openings, this distinctive memento explicitly records the end of an era: the cessation of production from a massive, pioneering North Sea field.The substantial clear rectangular acrylic block contains an attractively suspended liquid oil-drop capsule, showcasing a two-tone effect with dark black oil settled beneath a translucent amber upper layer. The front face features the custom corporate \"NW Hutton Team\" branding alongside their dedicated operational motto, “safety success”.Discovered in 1975 and brought online in 1983 by the Amoco Group, the North West Hutton platform was later operated by BP. Over its 20-year lifespan, this legendary East Shetland Basin field produced 126 million barrels of oil. • The exact item shown in the photographs is condition with some light surface scratches, scuffs and handling marks consistent with age and display. There may also be small marks, bubbles or natural imperfections within the acrylic and around the encapsulated sample.

The acrylic has a slight warm tint in places, consistent with its age and clearly visible in the photographs.

The camera and close-up lighting tend to emphasise every small surface mark; the paperweight presents better to the eye in normal viewing. Please study all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description and show the exact item you will receive.

Every paperweight offered, whether supplied with its original presentation box or not, will be placed inside a clear protective polythene bag, followed by a clear bubble-wrap bag. It will then be packed in a new die-cut cardboard box, which may also be retained for safe storage of the item. This box will be placed inside additional protective outer packaging for secure posting.
