These (2) CMGI and Patriots-branded cocktail napkins are from a pre-season game of the 2002 inaugural season of the new Patriots stadium before it was renamed Gillette stadium.CMGI was hit by the .com bubble burst and renegotiated their contract to end stadium naming rights during the summer of 2002.
Gillette stepped in with naming rights, which they have through 2031.
Because of the timing of the stadium name-change, there was no time to print “Gillette Stadium ” items, so existing “CMGI” ones were used, even though it wasn’t technically “CMGI Field”. At the time, there were temporary “Gillette” banners hanging over the “CMGI” logos on the stadium.
These napkins were provided in the suites throughout the stadium, and show the iconic “lighthouse” image that is still used today.
These represent a unique part of Pats history are great conversation pieces suitable for framing. They are unused and have some indentations and impressions, but logos are unaffected. Border embossing is typical cocktail napkin style. See photos. Approx. 5”x5” when quarter- folded and 10”x10” when completely unfolded.

Fun fact: The 2002 season was Tom Brady’s first as a starter (Drew Bledsoe was traded to the Bills in the offseason), and the only one in the Brady-Belichick era where the Patriots did not win at least 10 games. The rest is history.
