This is a highly scarce 19th-century Ottoman Turkish edition of Elfü’n-Nehâr ve’n-Nehâr (الف النهار ونهار), widely known as the Binbir Gündüz Masalları (The Thousand and One Days). Printed in Istanbul in 1290 AH (1873 CE), this single-volume masterpiece was translated and compiled from French sources by a prominent literary cohort: Mustafa Hâmî, Ali Râşid, Ahmed Şükrü, and Said Fehmi. A notable highlight of this specific copy is its exceptional provenance. The introductory leaf bears the clean, authentic red collection stamp of the Fahri Bilge Kütüphanesi (Inventory No. 1581), the personal library of the legendary Turkish judge and rare book collector Fahri Bilge (1890–1960).
**Note: This book is in worn, delicate antiquarian condition. The original blind-stamped blue cloth binding shows heavy mottling, staining, and corner loss exposing the board beneath. The spine is heavily deteriorated and detached from binding with significant material loss to the cloth at both the head and foot; joints are fragile and split. The text block remains good, square, and bound. Internally, pages show heavy discoloring, stains, foxing, handling marks, and natural age-toning, edge chipping and page ruffling, and folded corners.**
Great candidate for professional conservation or a prized addition to an Ottoman literature collection.
