Despite the Armistice on Nov 11 1918 1000s of British & American and other allied troops were sent to Murmansk Harbour to fight the bolsheviks and an offensive action to link up the Trans Siberian Railroad. The troops were confused as Armistice had been announced but they were expected to continue fighting on into 1919. by British & American ambassadors, there was never a war declared between these forces and the bolsheviks and yet battles were still being fought. The fighters were known as Polar Bears, hence the APO cds P.B.1. (Polar Bear 1).
