The 2012-13 season was an especially interesting period for the Rayados. Managed by Víctor Manuel Vucetich, Monterrey finished seventh in the Apertura and reached the quarterfinals, then finished 11th in the Clausura while advancing to the semifinals. Their biggest achievement came internationally: Monterrey won the 2012-13 CONCACAF Champions League, completing an extraordinary three consecutive championships from 2010-11 through 2012-13. They then represented CONCACAF at the 2012 FIFA Club World Cup, where they finished third. The special Club World Cup version of the shirt removed the usual sponsor clutter and carried Carta Blanca as the sole sponsor, which helps explain the prominent Carta Blanca branding associated with this era.
