Acquired from a period photo album alongside studio work by Charles Eisenmann and other prominent 1800s cabinet photography.
About the Subjects:
Born into slavery in North Carolina, Millie and Christine McKoy overcame immense early hardship to become international musical sensations, fluent polyglots, and celebrated performers across Europe and the United States. They earned their independence, bought the plantation on which they were born, and retired as prosperous historical figures.
