This listingis for a quarter plate ambrotype of a family grouping. I’m guessing it’s aseated mother surrounded by her son and four daughters. A very unusualfull-length pose. The plate is in excellent condition. It is set in a preserverbut no mat.
Theimage is housed in an Alone at the Rendezvous union case, Berg. 1-35, with thesame design on both the obverse and reverse. This case is also known as TheTryst. If you look closely, you can see a gentleman caller in the distanceriding to the assignation. The motif on both sides of the case is in excellentcondition but there are several corner and edge chips on both the obverse andreverse as shown in the photos.
A Noteabout Condition. I leave cases and images in their “as-found” condition. I donot attempt to repair cases. If original seals are present on an image I willnot disturb them. If an image is unsealed, I will clean the cover glass ifnecessary but I do not attempt to clean the images themselves.
