Offered here is a vintage wooden-handle rubber stamp that came out of a very old estate. The gentleman had worked many years for the Pullman train company, and this stamp was among his railroad office items. Great piece of railroadiana with both Pullman and Penn Central interest.
The wood block is marked:
PENN CENTRAL TRANSPORTATION CO.
REG’L. COMPT.
PHILA. PA.
The handle is a classic black knob style and the rubber stamp face is still attached (there is a visible crack across the rubber – see photos). I have not tested it with ink; it is being sold primarily as a display collectible, not guaranteed for everyday stamping use.
Condition:
• Vintage, used condition
• Ink staining and wear from normal office use
• Rubber shows age and a crack through the middle
• Handle and wood block have scuffs and marks consistent with age
• Please review all photos carefully as they are part of the description
Wonderful addition to any Pullman, Penn Central, or railroad / railway collection, or for anyone who loves old office and accounting ephemera.
