Pio Manzu Cronotime Table Clock for Alessi (1988 ed.); excellent/NOS Condition For Sale

A great Alessi \"Cronotime\" table clock, designed by Italian automotive designer Pio Manzu. This iconic piece features a rotating plastic body inspired by car engine exhaust pipes and cooling hoses. Originally created in 1966 as a promotional gift for Fiat, the clock then became a Ritz-Italora product available in the La Rinascente department store in Italy. It was subsequently produced by Alessi, and eventually earned a spot in the MoMA permanent collection.This clock is the 1988 Alessi reissue. It comes complete with its original box dated 1988, original internal packaging, and the original 64-page Alessi design brochure also dated 1988. The booklet contains detailed biographical info on Manzu and three other Alessi clock designers. My understanding is that this clock was produced until the early 2000s, discontinued, and then re-issued in 2010. This clock is from the first reissue by Alessi. This clock is in excellent vintage condition.I think it is fair to call this clock NOS, with only a bit of wear to the original box and a small crease to the cover ot the original brochure.Please see photos below for details.This clock includes its original high-quality German quartz movement. I inserted a battery for two days and it kept great time. Please note, however, that the continued operation and accuracy of this clock movement is not guaranteed. Note also that a battery will not be included with the clockbecause of shipping restrictions, but the clock takes a standard N cell.Clock dimensions are approximately 3.5\" Tall x 3.5\" Deep x 3.0\" Wide.This is a beautiful, complete collector\'s set that would be a great find for any Piu Manzu, Alessi, or mid-century clock collector.Stored in a clean, cool, and smoke-free home.
