Up for sale is a beautiful vintage hand-carved wooden relief wall plaque by documented French-Canadian folk artist Pierre Labelle. Crafting his work out of Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, Quebec—widely celebrated as the woodcarving capital of Canada—Labelle was known for capturing traditional regional characters with wonderful detail and texture.This piece features the side profile of a classic rustic man (resembling a traditional fisherman or lumberjack) wearing a textured slouch cap with a tassel and a plaid shirt. The profile is framed beautifully within a recessed, arched background displaying wonderful artisan chisel marks.The reverse side features the authentic, original red ink stamp confirming the maker and location: \"Pierre Labelle, Sculpture Sur Bois, C.P. 1917, R.R. No. 1132, St-Jean Port-Joli, P.Q.\" Based on the address format and stamping style, this piece dates back to the 1960s or 1970s.Item Specifications:
