Hand-carved American wooden root burl. Measuring approximately 20 inches in length.The wood is carved from a single natural root section that formsbird beaks carved into the wood.
Sometimes used as ceremonial items, or presentationpieces and other times were inscribed withdates or locations when made for sale, gifting, or commemoration.
Overall condition is good aged. The surface shows expected age-related wear, handling marks, andnatural shrinkage consistent with carved root wood and a few minor chips on the beak. See pics.
