ABOUT THE SHOW
Promenade was an off-Broadway "musical entertainment" that opened to great acclaim on June 4, 1969, at the Promenade Theatre in New York. With book and lyrics by acclaimed playwright María Irene Fornés and music by Al Carmines (both Obie winners), it follows two escaped convicts — 105 and 106 — as they make their way through high society, with music described by the New York Times as "a joy from start to finish." Presented by Edgar Lansbury and Joseph Beruh, directed by Lawrence Kornfeld. A cult favorite among collectors of off-Broadway cast recordings.
