Edgar A Roth; various illustrators; published by Advertising Artists of Pittsburgh, c 1958 [in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Bicentennial Commission 1955-58]; twelve silk screens by Pittsburgh's top illustrators of the day. See pics for detailed info on printing, historical research, typography, paper, etc.Some of these images also appeared in Anthony Wayne - A Name in Arms (Indian Wars 1790-94), 1959.The prints are in near mint condition, (just one shows a bit of foxing). The soft cover folder and printed material are also in excellent condition. A year's research on the various uniforms resulted in these wonderful images. A truly unique and important set of imagesof 18th C colonial uniforms, created 65 years ago!The illustrators :
Nat Youngblood (1916-2009) - 1963-93 art director Pittsburgh Press; in 1976 created series of historical paintings that now hang in the Fort Pitt Museum; one of Pennsylvania's preeminent historical artists of his generation.Edgar A Roth (1874-1968) - art director US Steel; designed Hall of Valors at Solder's and Sailor's Hall, Pittsburgh; President Art Director's Society of Pittsburgh and Associated Artists of Pittsburgh.Frank Marcello (1929-2020) - studied Barnes School, instr. Carnegie Mellon, extensive commercial work for Alcoa, Westinghouse Corp, member Assoc.
