Excellent original photographic postcard portrait of an Australian Imperial Force soldier, photographed by Jas. C. Cruden of 182 Pitt Street, Sydney.The soldier wears Australian Rising Sun badges on his cap and collar. His shoulder insignia appears to show “3 / INF / AUSTRALIA,” identifying the 3rd Australian Infantry Battalion, AIF.The 3rd Battalion was one of the original infantry battalions of the First Australian Imperial Force and served at Gallipoli and on the Western Front.
