Toyota guitars were imported from Japan in the early 1970s. They were distributed by Hershman Musical Instrument Co of New York, NY.
Famous Japanese luthier Tsunesaburo Kurosawa was involved in design, development and marketing.
Tsunesaburo Kurosawa was a excellent luthier and had a great business drive and entrepreneurial spirit. In early 1970s Tsunesaburo started a chain of his own music stores in Japan. Today, Kurosawa’s network is the largest domestic distributor and retailer of musical instruments in Japan.
This a a gorgeous Toyota Model 115 classical guitar from 1972. In the late 1960s Tsunesaburo established the Hitachi guitar factory where this guitar was built.
Beautiful sitka spruce top with rosewood back and sides. as you can see from the pictures. Beautiful sound hole rosette and headstock inlay. Light as a feather and plays and sounds wonderful!
Model number 115 was the rarest of them all.
It has cosmetic wear from scratches mostly on the back side. The bridge was repaired by a professional Luthier.
