Offered here is a beautifully restored Marantz 2215B Stereophonic Receiver. This is not simply a vintage receiver that was powered on and described as “working.” It has received extensive electronic restoration, adjustment and bench testing.
The receiver will be supplied with a detailed Vintage Audio Restoration Report, Certificate of Restoration, and Marantz 2215B documentation/manual as pictured.
The Marantz 2215B was originally rated at 15 watts per channel. During our final bench testing, this receiver exceeded its original rated output with both channels driven simultaneously.
RESTORATION & SERVICE PERFORMED
• Original P700 main amplifier board replaced with a modern Motronix M-P700-V4AK / M-P700-4AK amplifier assembly
• Original P800 power supply board replaced with a Motronix M-P800-RG assembly
• Power output transistors installed with mica insulators and fresh thermal compound
• PE01 tone amplifier board serviced with new electrolytic, bipolar and film capacitors as appropriate
• Amplifier bias carefully adjusted on both channels
• Speaker-output DC checked and measured essentially 0 VDC on both channels
• New tuner dial string installed, restoring normal operation of the Gyro-Touch tuning mechanism
• All receiver lamps replaced with LEDs
• FM stereo indicator upgraded to a white LED and configured for proper ON/OFF operation
• Controls cleaned and exercised
• Chassis and grounding connections inspected and tightened
• Rear RCA connections cleaned and treated with DeoxIT
• PHONO input tested using an actual turntable
• AUX input tested
• FM reception and FM stereo operation tested
FINAL BENCH TEST RESULTS
The receiver was tested using a 1.000 kHz sine-wave signal with both channels driven simultaneously into 8-ohm resistive dummy loads.

Approximately 18.3 watts into 8 ohms
RIGHT CHANNEL
33.40 Vpp / approximately 11.81 Vrms equivalent
Approximately 17.4 watts into 8 ohms
Measurements were taken at the onset of visible waveform clipping.
These are bench power measurements and are not THD-analyzer measurements.
For comparison, the Marantz 2215B was originally rated at 15 watts per channel.
The actual oscilloscope test showing both channels operating simultaneously at 1.000 kHz is included in the listing photographs.
FUNCTIONAL TESTING
AUX, PHONO and FM have all been functionally tested.
The PHONO stage was tested with an actual turntable and produced clean, strong playback.
FM reception was tested, and the FM Stereo indicator properly illuminates when a strong stereo broadcast is received.
Both amplifier channels operate cleanly and produced output exceeding the receiver\'s original rated power during final bench testing.
The newly installed tuner string provides normal operation of the classic Marantz Gyro-Touch tuning system.
All LED illumination has been checked for operation and gives the receiver the classic Marantz blue illuminated appearance.
DOCUMENTED RESTORATION
One feature that separates this receiver from many vintage units offered for sale is the documentation accompanying the restoration.
Included with the receiver are the pictured:

• Marantz 2215B documentation/manual
The Restoration Report identifies the receiver by serial number and documents the major restoration work, electrical adjustments, functional testing and final measured bench performance.
COSMETIC CONDITION
Please examine all photographs carefully because they are an important part of the description.
The receiver presents very nicely for its age. The brushed-aluminum faceplate, dial glass, lettering and controls show well, and the illuminated blue Marantz dial makes an especially attractive presentation.
This is a vintage component and normal age-related cosmetic wear should be expected. Multiple photographs from different angles are provided so you can evaluate the actual condition of the receiver being offered.
An interior photograph is also included so buyers can see the restoration work and replacement Motronix amplifier and power-supply assemblies.
PACKING
Vintage Marantz receivers deserve careful packing.
The receiver will be securely packed for shipment with particular attention paid to protecting the faceplate, knobs, controls, Gyro-Touch tuning mechanism and chassis.
