After our units get serviced and cleaned they are double checked to make sure everything is in good working order before we box them up.All functions on the unit perform excellent. The cosmetic condition of this unit is fair. The faceplate looks good. There is one big scratch on top of unit outside that there are just small scratches as contingent with a unit of this age. Check the pictures for details. MSB manufactures some very high end and expensive DAC\'s and this unit benefits from that high end technology and experience in manufacturing quality parts. (referred to as trickle down technology) Because of all those benefits the audio community considers this DAC quite the bargain when it comes to units in this price range and above. An outboard DAC can make major improvements in sound quality on multiple levels verse inboard DAC\'s in equipment that can cost multiples of the price of this DAC.
