A good tip is to use paint tape to protect the wood from splitting while cutting the shaft (wind the tape around the shaft above the cut-off point).
If you\'d like us to cut your cane before shipping, please try to determine the optimal length very accurately using a standard method you can find on Google, or refer to the picture below. Remember to consider the thickness of your shoe soles!
