Outstanding large-scale Kirch sunburst wall clock featuring a dramatic gold-tone metal starburst design and a dial prominently marked GEORGE NELSON.

The clock measures approximately 24 inches in diameter, creating a substantial architectural presence on the wall. Long tapered folded-metal rays radiate from the center clock body, producing the classic sculptural appearance associated with Atomic Age and Mid-Century Modern interiors.

The brushed gold-tone dial features stylized black Arabic numerals, coordinating black and gold hands, a clear glass crystal and a deeply dimensional metal surround.

The rear retains its original Kirch identification label with handwritten Item No. 1688. Archived retailer information identifies Kirch model 1688SUNSHINE-B as a 24” gold-tone metal sunburst clock with metal rays, glass crystal and battery-operated movement, closely corresponding to this example.

These discontinued Kirch starburst clocks have developed a following among collectors and decorators seeking distinctive Mid-Century Modern and Atomic-style wall décor.

This is a particularly attractive version with its monochromatic gold finish, oversized 24” scale and dramatic elongated rays. When mounted, the dimensional rays create striking shadows and reflections that change depending on room lighting.
