This is an etching by well known Dutch artist Johan Barthold Jongkind 1819-1891, a painter and printmaker. Hepainted marine landscapes in a free manner and is regarded as a forerunner of Impressionism. The etching istitled “Entree du port de Honfleur”, plate signed and date 1863. It’s been trimmed to the plate marks and on aheavy paper sheet, with plate marks. It’s in very good condition, measuring 12” x 8 3/4”, in a 17 1/4” x 14 1/4”oak frame. It looks to have been framed in Boston, in the early 20th century, it still has a wooden backing. A
