Japanese Meiji Period (1868–1912) magnificent and unusual Kinkozan Satsuma vase in a rare shape.

Finely decorated with exceptional detail and workmanship. The vase features low-relief gilt decorative panels depicting aristocrats, children, and samurai, including a charming scene of a woman playing ball with a young boy.

Rich cobalt blue background with elaborate floral decoration and applied handles. Beautiful use of gilding throughout.

Signed Kinkozan on the bottom; the signature shows slight wear.
