A Wonderful and Beautiful California Plein-Aire Impressionist Oil Painting on Artist Canvas Board by the well listed, important California Artist, Harvey B. Coleman (1884-1959, Los Angeles, CA.). He was New York and moved to California at the turn of the 20th Century, circa 1900.
He is known for his Landscapes and Mountain Scenes - also painted Lakes, Coastal Scenes and Desertscapes. You will find him well listed in the reference books, Davenports, Hughes Artists in California 1786-1940, Dawdy, Moure, etc. His paintings seldom come up for sale and when they do they go for much more than I\'m asking - over 30 years ago they were selling for over $3,000 when just a bit larger pieces half this size sold for $650 and today, they can bring even more. Due to health issues, we are selling our Art Collection it for much less than its value.
This Beautiful and Dynamic California Plein-Aire Landscape is done in a very painterly manner and is a perfect example of Coleman\'s favorite Genre - great impressionist brush strokes, composition and usage of our wonderful California Light. It is in Excellent Condition, and the frame is in Very Good Condition, bearing a few light abrasions which are commensurate with its age.
It measures 19 1/2 inches by 21 1/2 inches with the frame, 15 1/2 inches by 19 1/2 inches Sight Size. It would enhance any California Impressionist Art Collection, look wonderful in a California Bungalow or any great Art Collection.
