The dish depicts Saint George who’s already slayed the dragon. George defeating the dragon represents the victory of good over evil
The king wearing the crown is pagan, but once St George rescues him and his people from the terror of evil…the dragon…he converts to Christianity, along with his whole nation…so, this represents all types of peoples and cultures being saved by Christianity. The Bishop symbolises the church and spiritual leadership.
In lovely antique condition with a superb colour and patination, both front and back back
