‘Dear Sir,
… with the £1 framing? For the prints of Eton? …, & the £3 … would exceed the price of the proofs they have in … to contain, and … choice of the £2 frame, but my framing being at present … in Bath. I shall have such … need of any of these for hanging a … picture until nect spring or summer & before anything … fixed upon. I should like the print … I go to London ( … ) to call upon you & consult you in the matter? Yours…’

Joseph Hogarth (1801 - 1879) was a British fine art print publisher, print seller, frame maker and art restorer. He operated from various locations in central London in the middle decades of the nineteenth century. He was working in the field by 1826 and the business continued to operate till 1890, by which time it was under the direction of his two sons. The 1851 census notes he lived above their gallery in the Haymarket. The business is known to have operated, as Joseph Hogarth, or, Joseph Hogarth & Sons, from the following locations in London, inc 5 Haymarket, London from 1845 to 1866
