The gem is precision cut (diamond cut), with faceted girdle and culet in the Supernova oval Meetpoint pattern. The cutting angles are chosen according to the laws of Optics in order to achieve the most brilliant gem possible.
The gem show an overall violet BLUE color with a few green flashes, typical of the best Montana sapphires. I cannot detect any inclusion at 10X magnification.The straight edged color bands and clouds indicate that the crystal structure is intact.The gem was not heated after faceting.The material was heated in bulk, before faceting, to 800 deg. F, for 24 hours. This was done in the US using a controlled industrial kiln.As you see from the pictures, the crystal structure was not altered.Please note actual dimensions above; the pictures are enlargements.
