- Material & Technique: Darkly patinated copper alloy (kinkō / shakudō), copper (suaka), gold (kin), silver (gin); high relief carving (takabori), stone-grain ground (ishime-ji), precious and soft metal overlays (iroe / kin-gin-iroe)
- Dimensions: Fuchi: 37.7 × 23.0 × 13.5 mm | Kashira: 33.0 × 18.5 × 10.0 mm
2. Construction & Details:
- Design & Composition: A set of handle fittings (fuchi and kashira) decorated with a winter rural landscape (yukigeshiki). The surface ground of both pieces is finished in dense stone-grain texturing (ishime-ji). The composition depicts rural thatched cottages (minka) surrounded by pine trees (matsu) alongside a stream. The cottage roofs and pine branches feature carved silver overlays imitating a layer of snow (gin-iroe). The roof of the primary cottage on the kashira is highlighted in warm pure copper (suaka). Structural posts, fences, and botanical details are accented with gold overlay (kin-iroe).
- Apertures & Accessories: The kashira retains its complete, original gilded side eyelet inserts (shitodome).
3. Condition:
- Very good condition; well-preserved multi-metal overlays, crisp high-relief carving, and intact original gilded shitodome.
