This is an exceptionally preserved Franklin Mint Precision Models 1896 Ford Quadricycle, an impressive large-scale representation of Henry Ford’s first experimental automobile.
What makes this particular example remarkable is its mechanical detail and state of preservation. Our extensive close-up inspection shows an extraordinary assortment of individually modeled components, including the exposed drivetrain, dual drive chains, leather-like drive belts, pulleys, gears, steering and brake linkages, copper-colored tubing, brass fittings, wiring, spoked wheels and detailed engine components.
The underside is especially impressive. At extreme photographic magnification, the chains remain clean and properly positioned, the belts appear remarkably well preserved, and the numerous tiny mechanical components, fasteners and linkages remain intact. The copper-colored tank is clearly embossed:

The model’s functional mechanical elements were also carefully checked. The steering operates, the wheels turn, the chains and gears move, and the associated mechanical linkages operate when carefully manipulated. Nothing observed during our inspection suggested missing or broken mechanical components.
Cosmetically, the model presents beautifully. The black chassis, white tires, fine black spokes, green upholstered seat, copper-colored components and brass-colored fittings retain excellent visual presence. Even under very close magnification, the overall preservation is exceptional.
This is a substantial display piece with the kind of mechanical complexity that rewards close examination from virtually every angle.
Please study all photographs carefully. We intentionally photographed this model from numerous angles and at unusually high magnification so collectors can evaluate its condition and intricate construction for themselves.
It will be very carefully packed for shipment, with particular attention given to protecting the delicate wheels, steering components and exposed mechanical details.
