\"Tachiarai Shohi Juyonki\" (Tachiarai Youth Pilots, 14th class)
It is believed to have been awarded to, or made to commemorate, a soldier of the 14th class of
youth pilots (pilot course) at the Tachiarai Army Flying School, which existed during the Pacific War,
on completing his flight training.
- Tachiarai Shohi: the Tachiarai Army Flying School, which stood in what are now Chikuzen and
Tachiarai in Fukuoka Prefecture. It was a major centre for training the Japanese Army\'s best pilots.
- The 14th class: the cohort that entered Tachiarai as youth pilots in April 1943 (Showa 18).
As the war situation worsened they were put through a demanding \"accelerated course\" that packed
flight training into a shorter period than usual.

There is some dulling and scuffing from age, but for an item of that period it seems to be in
relatively good condition.
