With its legendary K2 membrane woofers, the ES 165 K2E kit offers natural and powerful sound reproduction. Their high sensitivity allows them to deliver an enveloping and dynamic sound while the ogive of the central core guarantees perfect dispersion of sound in the passenger compartment. Car listening is exalted.

Crossovers: The crossover inputs and outputs are set screw terminals; they will accept bare wire to 10-gauge. The high-pass crossover slope is 12 dB/octave; one switch allows you to adjust the output level of the tweeter to -3 dB, 0 dB, or +3 dB, a second switch turns the tweeter \"shelf\" on/off (high-frequency boost designed to improve definition). Another switch allows you to choose between 12 dB/octave and 6 dB/octave slopes for the low-pass crossover. The crossover point for both is 3,500 Hz. Each crossover also has bi-amp inputs, one input for the tweeter and one for the woofer. When using only two amplifier channels the crossover inputs must be shorted together using two short pieces of speaker wire. Focal recommends using four amplifier channels to bi-amp the speakers for the improved dynamic range and to present an easier load for the amp(s) to drive.
