IMPORTANT NOTICE: These struts feature the newer style internal rebound spring (often found in performance struts like Bilstein B8, KYB, FCS or Monroe OESpectrum), the piston rod naturally retracts into the strut body. This makes it seem too short to reach and secure the top strut mount.To overcome the shorter piston rod and successfully get the strut mount installed, you can use the steps bellow:
Because you cannot easily pull the rod out further by hand, you have to force thespring down until the short rod clears the top hat hole.
1-Safely attach your coil spring compressors 180 degrees apart on the spring.
2-Compress the spring past its normal installation point.
3-Place the upper spring perch, dust boot, and strut mount over the rod. Because the spring ishighly compressed, the short piston rod will now project far enough through the center ofthe strut mount to expose its threads.
4-Hand-thread the top locking nut onto the piston rod.
5-Tighten the center nut to specification before slowly releasing the spring compressors.
