This listing is for a superb Victorian silverplate tilting tea kettle with stand. We learned from a very kind and well informed er that it was made in England by Elkington and Co.; circa 1850. Beautifully hand-chased, it showcases decorations of scrolls, stylised birds and landscapes; and fixed scrolled handle. It has not been cleaned or polished, and shows a small dent on each side, and a repair to the handle, which are all shown in the photos. The interior needs cleaning. On the stand it measures 16” high x 11” wide x 10.5” depth. Hallmarks on the base.
Take a look at the photos as they tell so much more than we can articulate; and zoom in for a closer look at any and all condition issues. As you can see, we took photos in sunlight, in interior light against an ivory backdrop, and in evening light. The difference between the them is amazing. So please browse the images for a sense of how the kettle responds to light.
