It is not getting as cold as I expected.
This is a thermoelectric unit, not a compressor refrigerator. It cools to about 32°F and up to 59–64°F below the air around it, so the actual interior temperature depends on the room or the car. On a hot day, load drinks that are already cold, keep the lid latched, and park in the shade when you can.
How do I switch between cooling and warming?
The hot / cold switch is on the back of the unit. Flip it to the mode you want and plug in. The built-in fan runs in both modes.
Will it freeze my food?
No. This box cools and warms — it does not freeze. It is designed to keep food and drinks at a comfortable temperature, not to make ice.
Can I leave it running with the engine off?
The 12V cord draws from your vehicle’s 12V outlet. Many vehicles cut power to that outlet when the ignition is off, so check your owner’s manual for your specific vehicle. If you want it running continuously, use the 110V wall cord with a household outlet instead.
How long does it take to reach temperature?
A thermoelectric cooler brings the interior down gradually rather than all at once. For the best result, start with items that are already chilled or hot, load the box, close the lid and let it run with the lid latched.
Will it leak in the car?
The lid locks shut once it is closed to help prevent spills and leaks while you are driving. Give the lid a firm press so it latches before you set off.
Is it noisy?
The internal fan is the only moving part, and it is built to run quietly so it will not compete with your music or conversation.
How do I clean it?
Unplug it first. Wipe the interior and exterior with a soft damp cloth and a little mild soap, then dry it completely before closing the lid.
There is a light plastic smell when it is new.
That is normal for a new unit. Before first use, unplug it and leave the lid open in a ventilated room for a few hours.
Can I put loose ice inside?
Most owners simply load chilled cans and bottles, which is what the box is built for. The liner wipes clean with a damp cloth if anything spills.
What can I store in it?
Cans, bottled water, wine bottles, food containers, takeout, packed snacks, fruit, dairy and deli items — anything you would normally put in a cooler or a lunch box.
