For sale is a beautiful original oil on canvas landscape by renowned American Impressionist Edward Willis Redfield (1869–1965), signed and dated 1951 lower right.
This vibrant painting captures a rushing river or stream through a wooded area with dynamic brushwork, white water, and rich greens/blues—classic Redfield style from his later career.
It measures approximately 20” x 24” (sight/viewable area; please confirm with photos). Nicely framed and ready to hang.
Provenance: Acquired with the purchase of our home in Southwest Virginia. The previous owners’ family ran an antique store and inherited many items. No additional paperwork or history, but the signature, style, and date are consistent with
Redfield’s known works.
Redfield was a leading figure in the New Hope School of Pennsylvania Impressionists, famous for plein air landscapes. His paintings are held in major museums and have strong collector demand.
Condition: Good overall vintage condition with nice craquelure consistent with age. Some minor wear on the frame and canvas reverse (see photos). No major issues visible—displays beautifully.
