This Super Audio CD hybrid reissue from ESOTERIC's acclaimed remastering series presents Herbert von Karajan's first complete recording of Verdi's Aida — one of the earliest complete opera recordings made in stereo, and the Vienna Philharmonic's first-ever recording of a complete Italian opera. Recorded at the Sofiensaal, Vienna in September 1959 for Decca, the cast is led by Renata Tebaldi in the title role, with Carlo Bergonzi, Giulietta Simionato and Cornell MacNeil. This 2-disc SACD hybrid edition is newly remastered by ESOTERIC directly from the original master tapes and packaged in a digipak.
