A charming English Edwardian c.1900s Dennison A.L.D. 9ct yellow gold-filled single sovereign holder, expertly crafted to carry several sovereign coins with both elegance and practicality. These refined accessories were highly prized during the Victorian and Edwardian eras, often carried by affluent gentlemen and ladies as a discreet symbol of status and sophistication. Designed to be worn on an Albert chain, attached to a keyring, or suspended from a watch fob, they remain highly sought-after collectable antiques today.The case shows age-related wear, with the original engraving now considerably rubbed and softened through years of handling. Remnants of the decorative engraved pattern can still be seen to both the front and back, together with a central engraved cartouche, giving the piece plenty of authentic antique character.
Inside the lid, it is stamped: Trade (Sun, Moon & Star) Mark, A.L.D. English Make 271. The spring-loaded sovereign holder is further inscribed: Gold Plate – Guaranteed To Wear 20 Years, highlighting the renowned quality and durability of Dennison craftsmanship.
