Needle Tips

• 13 pairs of 5-inch (13 cm) surgical stainless steel lace tips: US-2 (2.75 mm), 3 (3.25 mm), 4 (3.5 mm), 5 (3.75 mm), 6 (4 mm), 7 (4.5 mm), 8 (5 mm), 9 (5.5 mm), 10 (6 mm), 10.5 (6.5 mm), 11 (8 mm), 13 (9 mm), and 15 (10 mm)

Cables

• 6 red TWIST cables, memory-free multi-strand steel with a nylon coating: 14-inch (35 cm), 22-inch (55 cm), and 30-inch (75 cm), one of each length in both [S] and [S] and 1 [L] cable connector, 2 [S] and 2 [L] end stoppers, 24 stitch markers, 2 tightening keys, and a needle fabric case, 6 x 8 inches (15 x 20 cm) closed, with an outside zippered pocket. Inside, a labeled pocket for every size, spare pockets marked CG, and a second row of pockets below each row, so there is room for extra tips even with the full set in place

What This Set Makes

Any pair of tips on the 14-inch cable makes a 24-inch (61 cm) circular; on the 22-inch cable, a 32-inch (81 cm) circular; on the 30-inch cable, a 40-inch (101 cm) circular. Each cable length comes in both join sizes, so all 13 sizes can be built at all three lengths: 39 circular needles from one case. The pointed tips and memory-free cables carry everything from fingering-weight shawls to bulky sweaters knit in the round. (All measurements are approximate.)

For 5-inch tips, US-2 through US-8 tips use the Small [S] join and US-9 through US-15 use the Large [L] join, so every ChiaoGoo tip, cable, and connector marked [S] or [L] works with this set.

• 4-inch tips, for 16-inch circulars: the 4-Inch Complete Set (US-2 through US-15) and the 4-Inch Small Set (US-2 through US-8). Their 8-inch cable makes the 16-inch hat and cowl length this set cannot.
• Small circumferences knit directly in the round: the Shorties sets. Red (US-0 through US-3) and Blue (US-4 through US-8) have 2-inch and 3-inch tips that make 9- to 14-inch circulars; Yellow (US-9 through US-11) has 3-inch tips only, for 12- or 14-inch circulars. A Shorties Combo Pack, one size at a time from US-000 through US-8, is a way to try the short tips before buying a set.
• Fine sizes, US-000 through US-1.5: the 5-Inch Mini Set and the 4-Inch Mini Set, or Shorties Combo Packs in these small diameters.

Questions About This Set

Will this set make a 16-inch circular?
No. The shortest circular it builds is 24 inches. Hats and cowls on a 16-inch circular need 4-inch tips or a fixed 16-inch circular.

Do the tips come loose while knitting?
They can if they are only finger-tight. Snug each tip with a tightening key through the hole at the cable\'s join, and check them now and then. Keeping your ChiaoGoo tips secure walks through it.

Do my other ChiaoGoo tips and cables fit?
Yes, when the join size matches. Every TWIST, SPIN, X-Flex, and SWIV360 piece marked [S] or [L] works with this set. Shorties tips in US-2 through US-3 are the exception: on 2-inch and 3-inch tips those sizes take the Mini [M] join.

What are the connectors, end stoppers, and adapters for?
The connectors and end stoppers are in the set; the adapters are sold separately. A connector joins two cables of the same join size into one longer cable. End stoppers turn a cable into a stitch holder. Adapters put a tip on the next smaller cable: an [L] tip on an [S] cable, or an [S] tip on a Mini cable. Swivel adapters screw in between a tip and a TWIST or X-Flex cable so the cable can turn at the join instead of twisting as you knit.

Do the cables kink?
They are memory-free, not kink-free. ChiaoGoo attributes cable failure to repeated sharp bending, tight tension, and lifting heavy projects by the cable or joins, so lift by the needles. If a cable snaps, here is what to do.

Is there a warranty?
Yes. ChiaoGoo\'s lifetime warranty covers manufacturing defects for as long as the product should last in normal use. Lifetime means the life of the product. ChiaoGoo requires purchase from an authorized dealer, which Smartisans is.
