The visible obverse legend appears to include M AVR ANTON CAES. The remaining letters are weak or indistinct; the standard complete legend associated with this type is generally recorded as M AVR ANTON CAES PONTIF. The obverse depicts a youthful, bareheaded, draped and cuirassed bust of Caracalla facing right.

The reverse legend appears to be SECVRITAS PERPETVA. Minerva is shown standing left, resting her right hand on a shield set on the ground and holding an inverted spear in her left hand.

This type is generally cataloged as RIC IV 330; BMCRE 459; Cohen/RSC 566. Published examples are attributed to the Laodicea ad Mare mint and dated approximately AD 197–198.

Ancient circulated coin with moderate wear, surface roughness, scratches and areas of weak or incomplete lettering. The youthful portrait and Minerva reverse remain identifiable. The surfaces appear to have been lightly cleaned or polished at some point in the past.
