**EXTREMELY RARE POSSIBLE 9th KNOWN SPECIMEN**

At first glance this coin appears to be a very common S-C issue from Antioch, however according to RPC, there are currently less than 10 known example of McAlee 695; this particular type was likely issued during the final campaign of Caracalla in the East before his assassination in AD 217, with an absolutely magnificent portrait of the Emperor, with his trademark scowl and soldiers beard; this issue is much smaller and lighter than what one is accustomed to seeing from Antioch, especially for the type, coming in at under 17mm and weighing less than 4g, whereas issues from the 1st and 2nd Centuries were quite large and heavy, the same weights as a Sestertius; technically speaking this specimen is ‘uncleaned’ and could be improved by a steady, skilled hand, however I feel that it looks quite extraordinary as is, but that will be left up to you if you choose to add this example to your collection!
