Description
Offered here is the vintage Aynsley England Bone China teacup and matching saucer shown in the photographs, decorated in the highly collectible C746 fruit and berry design and signed by Aynsley artist N. Brunt.
This striking two-piece set features richly colored peaches, plums, grapes, blackberries, leaves and foliage arranged across the exterior of the cup and matching saucer. The cup is especially impressive, with a fully gilded gold interior together with a gold foot, gold handle and gold-edged scalloped rim.
Both the teacup and saucer carry the artist signature “N. BRUNT,” making this an especially desirable matched example.
The underside carries the green Aynsley crown backstamp reading “AYNSLEY / ENGLAND / BONE CHINA,” together with the C746 pattern designation.

Design & Craftsmanship
This Aynsley fruit and berry design is one of the company\'s most recognizable and collectible decorative styles.
The exterior of the cup is richly decorated with peaches, deep purple plums and berries, green foliage and warm naturalistic background detail. The matching saucer continues the same abundant fruit composition, creating an almost continuous still-life effect when the two pieces are displayed together.
The cup features a gently scalloped rim and elegant pedestal foot. Its entire interior is covered in a rich gold gilt finish, while the handle, pedestal base and rim are also extensively gilded.
The matching saucer features a gilded center well and gold-edged scalloped rim, surrounded by the colorful fruit and berry decoration.
The design was produced using transfer decoration that was individually hand-finished and enhanced by Aynsley artists, with the gilding also applied as part of the decorative finishing process. Both pieces in this set are signed N. Brunt.
History & Dating
Aynsley was a major English bone china manufacturer based in Staffordshire and became particularly well known for highly decorative tea ware and richly gilded cabinet pieces.
Nancy Brunt, whose signature appears on both pieces in this set, worked as an artist at Aynsley during the twentieth century and is particularly associated with the company\'s fruit and berry designs.
The earlier signed fruit designs were produced before the later standardized Orchard Gold range became widely established. Today, collectors frequently refer to these earlier signed fruit and berry pieces as Orchard Gold or Orchard Fruit.
Pattern C746, particularly examples with the extensive gold-washed interior and gilded fittings seen here, is associated with the mid-twentieth-century production period and is commonly dated to approximately the 1940s.

Light surface wear to the gold interior may be visible under close inspection, consistent with age and normal vintage handling. There is no significant loss affecting the overall presentation of the piece.
