The Society of the Army of the Cumberland was an organization composed of veterans and former members of the Army of the Cumberland, a major Union army during the American Civil War. The Army of the Cumberland was primarily responsible for controlling key regions in Tennessee and the Western Theater, including pivotal battles such as Chickamauga and the Atlanta Campaign.
The society was formed after the war as a mutual aid and fraternal organization for veterans of the army. Its members often participated in reunions, commemorative events, and activities aimed at preserving the history and memories of their service. The organization served to foster camaraderie among veterans and to promote the legacy of their contributions during the Civil War.
